The ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING took place on Monday 19 July at Dunmow Library. There was a good turnout and the audience enjoyed a talk from Dawn Ballard, Barnado's Community Fundraiser for the south east. Tracey Denman and Lynne Evans were welcomed on to the Committee and Helena Bailey was elected Vice-Chair in place of Sue Millard who has unfortunately had to resign due to ill health. The Chairman told the meeting that the past year had been both challenging and enjoyable. She was pleased that a lot of interest was shown in the 'See the Show' evening back in March. This was an introduction to 'The Likes of Us', the story of Dr. Barnardo told in song and narrative and our main production for 2011 with which we will be supporting Barnado's.

The Treasurer reported that the Society was now in a good financial position to stage a major production. Her main concern, shared by the members, is the increasing cost of hall hire for rehearsals. She told the meeting that discussions are ongoing with the Town Council in an effort to keep these costs down.

The Chairman thanked everyone for attending and the evening finished with refreshments served by members of the Committee.

SATURDAY 18 SEPTEMBER
Dunmow Carnival. We have the float; we have the driver; all we need is YOU. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered so far. Helpers are still needed to distribute leaflets along the route, ride on the float and prepare the vehicle. Please ring Decia if you have not already done so with your offer of help.

The annual subscription of £25 will be payable by new members before the date of the concert plus there is a £1 charge per session to help with rehearsal costs as this is a fund raising concert.
